Meeting Aims and Goals

This second plenary meeting of GREAT will focus on the following key topics:
  • Update on the progress of Gaia, highlighting developments relevant to those in the wider community aiming to scientifically exploit Gaia
  • Discuss the evolution of the GREAT network and look forward to the start of the ESF funded network in 2010
  • Within parallel discussions decide on plans for specific networking activities to support the work of the various science working groups.
Importantly the meeting will also have as a cross work group theme - the importance of optical ground based spectroscopy for many science programmes aimed at exploiting the Gaia data. In this context, the activities of AstroNet working groups will be presented.
